My Little Vietnamese Baby...

That reminds me of when I was younger...my Grammy always made friends wherever she went. One time she met some Vietnamese brothers in LAX...they became great friends with her and still keep in touch, over 20 years later. She always called them my 'Vietnamese Cousins.' I also had 'German Cousins' and 'Mexican Cousins.' How funny, huh?

ANYWAY, in unrelated and more interesting news, Papa Ed just spent a month in Vietnam. He brought back treats for all of us, but the favorite was this Vietnamese Silk Outfit for Carter. It fit him perfectly, and Carter loved it!

Happy Birthday, Carter Mac!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketI can't believe it! My baby is 1 today. One year ago today I was VERY pregnant, due in about 5 weeks. I had an appointment with my midwife because I had been having some preterm labor. My midwife told me to take it very easy, but that I should be ok for another week. We were hoping for that because there is to NICU here in McMinnville, and they don't like to deliver women who are that far out, just in case something were to go wrong and the baby needed more help. I REALLY wanted to deliver in McMinnville, and of course I wanted my little guy to be okay, especially after everything we had been through the previous 6 months.

After my appointment, I stopped at Hallmark on my way home to buy a baby book, then I came home and was talking to Kim on the phone. My dad and my kids were reading in the other room, and suddenly- GUSH! My water had broken! My dad whisked us to the hospital, and my mom met us there, followed shortly by Joel, who was on his way home from work. An hour later we were holding our sweet Carter Mac Gibson- all 6 pounds, 12 ounces of him. We were so thankful that his lungs were healthy enough that he didn't have to be transported to a NICU anywhere!

We are so thankful that this little guy is a part of our family. He has been such a blessing with his funny little smile and his big belly laugh.

Here are picture of our little guy and his party yesterday!

Sunshine Day

Garrett and I went to the park next to Maddy's school today before we picked her up. It was 65 degrees, and so gorgeous out- I guess it is time to break out the sunscreen again! Garrett even took a few photos- like the one in the top right corner of the page, and the one with the degrees. When school got out we went back over with Maddy and two of her best buddies and played for a while more. It was a nice break for us from being inside. Our house has been the sick house this week! (And still is.)

Garrett made a new friend. Sort of. Garrett wasn't really a fan...

A Day at the Chilldren's Museum

We spent last Saturday with Joel's parents, sister, and Baby Dakota. First stop was OSF (yum, mizithra!) for lunch, and then to the children's museum for a full afternoon! We had a great time there. Maddy loved the clay room- she spent quite a while on her pottery bowl. Garrett loved the 'digging' room, and they took great joy in burying me! Carter's favorite, hands down, was the water room. Joel held him while he splashed and played like a big boy.
